Primavera/Spring
La primavera nos sorprende cada año; vemos los árboles y salimos al jardín varias veces al día, Los primeros signos: yemas que se van hinchando, mirlos en pie de guerra buscando desesperados, material para sus nidos. Y aun así un día de pronto nos sorprende la primavera.
Son días de muchas visitas, todos buscamos planes para salir después de los fríos del invierno. El jardín se llena de colegios, aficionados, familias y amantes de la naturaleza en general. La primavera compite con el otoño en términos de visitas, las dos estaciones muy breves. Con los primeros brotes de los arces, el jardín se llena de color, el deshojo brota de un color rojo intenso, el beni-shidori de color melocotón, el seigen, rosado…no pasará mucho tiempo hasta que con el sol sus hojas se pongan verdes y siga el ciclo imparable de los árboles, de las estaciones….continuará
Spring surprises us every year; we see the trees every day, we go out into the garden several times a day, we see the first signs: buds swelling, blackbirds on the warpath desperately searching for nesting material. And yet one day we are suddenly surprised by spring.
These are days of many visitors, we are all looking for plans to go out after the cold of winter. The garden fills up with school children, amateurs, families and nature lovers in general. Spring competes with autumn in terms of visits, the two very short seasons. With the first buds of the maples, the garden fills with color, the deshojo sprouts on a deep red color, the beni-shidori on a peach color, the seigen, pink…it won’t be long before with the sun their leaves turn green and the unstoppable cycle of the trees, of the seasons continues….
Una pequeña parte de la historia / A small part of history
En la primavera de 1987 recibo en mi casa/escuela/taller en Mirasierra la visita inesperada del entonces presidente Felipe González…… recibe como regalo del primer ministro Nakasone un bosque de Stewartias. Recibo su llamada para ver qué hay que hacer con el bosque. Al llegar, me conduce a su dormitorio donde se encuentra. Mi primer consejo es llevarlo al jardín.

La casualidad histórica de que un presidente de gobierno tuviera tan curiosa afición, no solo afianzó las relaciones entre ambos países; hizo que el arte del bonsái fuera conocido en todo el país. No es casualidad que España sea uno de los países europeos de referencia en el mundo del bonsái. Valorar los orígenes del bonsái que hemos heredado y a las personas que lo han hecho posible, tener referentes, conocer su historia o su pequeña parte de la historia.
A small part of history
In the spring of 1987 I receive at my home/school/workshop in Mirasierra the unexpected visit of the then president Felipe Gonzalez…… he received a Stewartias forest as a gift from Prime Minister Nakasone. I receive his call to see what to do with the forest. As soon as I arrive, he leads me to his bedroom where he has it. My first advice is to take it to the garden.

The historical coincidence that a president of government had such a curious hobby, not only strengthened the relations between both countries; it made the art of bonsai known throughout the country. It is not by chance that Spain is one of the European countries of reference in the bonsai world. To value the origins of the bonsai that we have inherited and the people who have made it possible, to have references, to know their history or their small part of history.
Exhibición en vivo de Sumi-e y Suminagashi / Live Sumi-e and Suminagashi Exhibition
El próximo sábado 29 de marzo,tendremos a Mercedes Matilla, @estudiomercedesmatilla experta en técnica pictórica japonesa, que realizará una exhibición en vivo de Sumi-e y Suminagashi, dos disciplinas ancestrales que capturan la esencia del movimiento y la contemplación. La demostración se dividirá en dos pases, uno a las 11:15 am y otra a las 12:45 pm
La demostración esta incluida con el precio de la entrada.
Next Saturday, March 29th, Mercedes Matilla, an expert in Japanese painting techniques, will be presenting a live demonstration of Sumi-e and Suminagashi, two ancient disciplines that capture the essence of movement and contemplation. The demonstration will be divided into two sessions, one at 11:15 am and the other at 12:45 pm.
The demonstration is included in the admission price.
